      • Ports are nowadays at the crossroad of numerous stakes, under the strain of increasing tensions (competition, demographic pressure, environmental issues…) and influenced by a wide range of major players. The Port of the Future action brings together some of them. Its purpose is to anticipate the future of ports and to foster research and innovation related to port environments. The pace is set on a yearly basis by the “Assises du Port du Futur” - Port of the future National Conference - where public and private stakeholders meet economic and academic players to work and share experiences in a great variety of fields of expertise (engineering, technology, sociology, economics, environment…)

This national ports conference is meant for french and european policy-makers, executives from major international ports, industry leaders, hauliers and academics to work together and discuss today and tomorrow’s port-related issues.

The 2015 edition of the Port of the future National Conference will be its 5th iteration and will take place on September 30th and October 1st in Paris, at the UIC Espace Congrès. The registrations are open.

The following topics will be addressed:

        • Ports, a driving force for sustainability : a prospective and strategic session with international keynote speakers.
        • The port as the achitect of the hinterland : logistic issues and perspectives on modal shift for the ports.
        • Connecting the port : the port single window and the impact of information and communication technologies on ports.
        • For an environment-friendly and energy-efficient port : environmental quality, consequences of the sulphur emissions directive and circular economy in ports.

The conclusions of the Port of the Future National Conference will be presented in keynote of the Safer Seas conference, session 5.
